In the second year of our collaboration with the team H2A of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, the team has won the hydrogen prototype class at the European Shell Eco-marathon in Rotterdam for the first time. With 342.2 km / kWh H2A were significantly better than the second-placed team from Delft (327 km / kWh), which also runs with ZBT fuel cell systems.
ZBT has adapted the fuel cell systems in cooperation with the different teams to the specific requirements of the vehicles. The technology of ZBT was gradually improved significantly and now meets the high performance requirements in this mobile application. System efficiencies over 60% have already been implemented in the latest systems build.
Each year Shell invites young teams from around the world for the energy efficiency competition Shell Eco-marathon. 2013 came some 3,000 students from 24 countries of Europe and Africa to Rotterdam / Netherlands from 15 to 19 May.
