Photovoltaic system installed

Green hydrogen and renewable energies – they are inseparable. A 35 kWp photovoltaic system has now been installed on the roof of the ZBT to test cross-sector energy supply!

In the joint project Power to Gas – Model project for cross-sector energy systems (PtG-MSE) at the ZBT, a Power to Gas test field is being set up as a pilot and demonstration platform on a pilot plant scale and a detailed analysis of different technology chains is being carried out against the background of sector coupling.

In the course of this work, a photovoltaic system has now been installed on site. The system has a maximum output of 35 kWp and is designed with an east-west orientation for optimal yield. With the help of this ‘green’ electricity, green hydrogen can be produced directly at the ZBT in the future.

Together with the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics (LTT) at RWTH Aachen University and YNCORIS GmbH & Co. KG in Hürth, ZBT is working on a sustainable solution that combines several energy sectors.

The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
